What is B Corp?
A B Corp is a for-profit company certified by the nonprofit B Lab for meeting high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. B Corps balance profit and purpose, considering the impact of their decisions on workers, customers, suppliers, community, and the environment.
What does this mean?
It means Millennium Care has committed to considering all stakeholders when making a business decision. As a company, we value people and the planet over profit and we’ll aim to use the business as a force for good in our communities.
How did we achieve it?
It’s taken a fair few months, and it’s involved a lot of the team, but we’re delighted to have achieved this milestone.
The submission process involved answering a series of questions spread across five categories Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers.
Collectively there are around 250 questions which have to be answered in-depth with supporting evidence. These answers are rigorously checked through a series of verification stages.
What next?
B Corp isn’t done. We will continually have to meet requirements and improve to keep this accreditation. This is only good for you, your loved ones and our staff team.
Millennium will be setting up a B Leader group, they will spot opportunities and help implement positive change within our organisation.
How will this B embedded?
B Corp is going to become part of Millennium’s fabric. The B Impact Report provides a framework like no other to make positive organisational changes that benefit all stakeholders.
Our team of B Leaders will work with homes and the community to embed changes that improve the lives of our residents and staff.
We’ll hold ourselves accountable each year, sharing our impact, changes and objectives for the future as we fully embrace the B Corp movement.
