We're on the lookout for a warm and outgoing Laundry Assistant to join the team at our beautiful home, Norley Hall.

Role Overview:

As a Laundry Assistant, you will provide laundry services within the home in accordance with agreed standards, legislative requirements, relevant regulations and in line with best practices whilst liaising with care staff and residents in a polite and person-centred way.

You will ensure residents' clothing is clean, appropriately laundered and returned to the right resident in a timely manner and infection control systems are appropriately used. You will be responsible for ensuring that the laundry requirements of the resident are managed appropriately and that there are always sufficient items available for use and effective equipment to facilitate the laundering of all items.

You will maintain your skills and undertake such training and development as required.

Role Specific Duties:

  • Assist in an effective laundry implementation and delivery
  • Ensure that residents' rights are protected
  • Follow cleaning schedules and suggest improvements when it is identified that they would improve practice to the Head Housekeeper
  • Promote infection control, and use identified systems to eliminate cross-contamination and infection
  • Use systems to ensure that residents' clothing is not damaged or lost during the laundry process
  • To encourage our residents to partake in daily laundry tasks working in line with the Household Model of Care
  • Liaise with other staff to prioritise the items for laundry
  • Identify and report to senior staff when laundry equipment is faulty, in need of repair or replacement
  • Manage the maintenance schedules of laundry equipment
  • Maintain the laundry environment to be safe, hygienic and well-organised

Working with Others:

  • To develop effective working relationships with other employees and support and develop new and less experienced members of the team
  • To attend and participate in team meetings
  • To maintain and develop relationships with the residents, their families, friends and other visitors to the home creating a nurturing environment where everyone feels loved and safe
  • To be responsible for the health and safety of yourself as well as others in the home under the Health and Safety regulations whilst promptly reporting any hazards or potential hazards to the relevant person
  • You will have the ability to work under pressure whilst being flexible and consistent

  • Be a role model for other members of the team and be an ambassador for the service
  • Be professional, polite and reasonable at all times
  • To provide a warm welcome to all new residents, team members and all visitors and to familiarise them with the home
  • You will have strong communication skills, be cooperative and have excellent attention to detail

Personal and Professional Development:

  • Attend statutory training and any other training as directed whilst being open to learning opportunities
  • Have a good understanding of dementia and how it affects those living with the disease
  • Have a basic knowledge of CQC and the fundamental standards
