We're on the lookout for a warm and outgoing Musical Lifestyle & Enrichment Coordinator to join the team at our new 52-bed home, Langtree, nestled within the Standish Care Village.
Role Overview:
As the Musical Lifestyle & Enrichment Coordinator at Langtree, you will be an essential part of the team, helping to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere consistently delivering an exceptional experience for our residents and their families.
You will lead music activities, group music making and entertainment with personal, social and therapeutic benefits for participants on either a one-to-one basis or within a group setting. You will lead in supporting residents living with dementia to improve their well-being. You will also support the team to understand the benefits of music in dementia care and to become more confident in its use and will work to support the aims of the dementia strategy.
Role Expectations:
Role Specific Duties:
- Plan, set up and lead interactive and participatory group music-making sessions
- Perform live music to enhance the well-being of residents, ensuring engagement and enjoyment
- Tailor performances and activities to the needs of residents, considering preferences, musical identities, cognitive abilities, health conditions and barriers faced
- Involve the residents in the development of the musical opportunities, activities and experiences available, offering and supporting opportunities for them to take ownership, leadership and control
- Working with residents, introduce new musical experiences (activities, genres) that develop and enhance their musical exposure, experiences and individual and collective musical identities
- Subject to available budget, research and identify equipment that can be purchased to support group and individual music-making activities, including assistive music technology
- Plan, set up and lead one-to-one music sessions for residents, offering personalised experiences to enhance individual wellbeing
- Adapt sessions for residents with specific needs (e.g., dementia, physical disabilities) to address barriers to participation experienced by participants
- Work closely with the Care team to ensure music activities that complement the care plans and holistic support for residents, including co-planning, reflection and supporting and facilitating active participation from care team colleagues in activities
- Work with the Care team to develop an understanding of the value of music in dementia care and where possible to increase colleagues' confidence and skills to integrate music into their own practice
- Participate in care home events, special occasions, and themed weeks, providing musical input as needed
- Maintain accurate records of music activities, resident feedback, and engagement levels
- Report on the outcomes of sessions and provide feedback on residents' responses to music sessions
- Ensure all performances and activities are conducted in a safe manner, adhering to care home policies and procedures
- Ensure all equipment used for musical activities is safe and in good working condition
Working with Others:
- To develop effective working relationships with other employees and support and develop new and less experienced members of the team
- To attend and participate in team meetings
- To maintain and develop relationships with the residents, their families, friends and other visitors to the home creating a nurturing environment where everyone feels loved and safe.
- To be responsible for the health and safety of yourself as well as others in the home under the Health and Safety regulations whilst promptly reporting any hazards or potential hazards to the relevant person
- To work in cooperation with outside agencies in the community to build links and relationships

- To provide a warm welcome to all new residents, team members and all visitors and to familiarise them with the home
Personal and Professional Development:
- Attend statutory training and any other training as directed whilst being open to learning opportunities
- Have a good understanding of dementia and how it affects those living with the disease
- Have a basic knowledge of CQC and the fundamental standards
