Caring for residents with dementia

Several homes within the Millennium Care Group cater for dementia care such as Norley Hall and Worthington Lake, both Wigan-based, and Lavender Hills Care Home the Group’s only home in Lancashire.

But what goes into dementia care?

Caring for a loved one can be more than demanding, several of our care homes which provide dementia care not only provide respite but peace of mind. Langtree will be no exception.

The home environments are safe spaces. Langtree will be purpose-built and designed with dementia in mind. From colour schemes to natural lighting, and signage to open-planned spaces allowing residents to thrive.

Not only that, but each room and communal space will have access to nature a key driver in supporting those with dementia.

Of course, nutritional care, health monitoring and medication management are key elements of dementia care. Maintaining healthy diets, having regular check-ups and ensuring proper medication are the staples!

Across our homes, amazing staff get to know each resident, gathering a deep understanding of their history, preferences and personality which enables tailored care plans to be created alongside a holistic approach to care.

Staff are trained, caring and motivated to provide outstanding care. Focusing on communication, assistance with daily activities and providing cognitive stimulation can help slow the progress of dementia.

They provide emotional support to residents and their loved ones in what can be a challenging time for all – priceless.
