Doris finds new lease of life

Doris Stevens, resident at Lakeside Care Home has found a new lease of life after Millercare, a mobility specialist company came out to deliver her a specially adapted wheelchair.

Doris has been bed bound for a short period of time after her health started to deteriorate and she didn’t feel safe in a standard wheelchair.

“It’s been life-changing for me, with my new wheelchair I can now live my life to the full and explore more places. I feel like I’ve been given my independence back and it's great.”

“It’s opened all aspects of her daily living. She can be included in larger group activities, go out in the minibus, and can join the other residents at mealtimes.

“She can also treat herself to getting her hair done in the salon too and go out in the sensory garden and around Worthington Lakes.”

Thanks to Millercare, with her new specialist tailor-made wheelchair she is now able to get up every day and can be a part of the Lakeside community again!

We expect her physical and mental well-being will improve significantly over time whilst she adapts to her bespoke wheelchair.
