Homes in the Millennium Care group are encouraged to promote from within, develop staff and help employees progress towards their goals. Whatever they might be!
Kerry, Senior Carer at Norley Hall, has been with the home for six years. For the last two years, she’s been working on completing her NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management.
“Eventually, I want to manage a home. I love my job; I love being a Senior, but this gives me something to aim for.
“I’ve been in care since leaving college at 17. I love everything about the job, I love the residents, I love it all and just being able to help is brilliant. I know my job; I don’t ever doubt myself. I enjoy working with people and helping them to improve.
“I have one more exam and then I’m done. It consisted of coursework, video calls, working from home, and on-the-job learning. Everything I’ve done has gone towards it which is great!
“All of it is around policies and procedures, the stuff that Seniors don’t necessarily deal with like safeguarding and finances.”
Supported by the home’s Manager, Kathryn, Kerry is now using her learnings practically and deputising every Monday!
“I step up and work with Kathryn on a Monday. It’s great working alongside her because she shows me loads. I love it, it’s a great start to the week it gets me dead high!
“Kathryn has given me a lot of support; she helps me in every which way she can.”
We’re excited to watch Kerry continue her development at Norley and within Millennium Care.
