As always it was a busy month at Norley Hall Care Home. No two days are the same.
The community-driven home on the outskirts of Wigan provides residents with varied activities, projects and trips that keep the mind and body active.
A couple of staples continued in July, visits from Hope College and Little Jigsaw's Nursery bring home a new lease of life and youthful energy which rubs off on residents and staff. Students from Hope College develop practical skills that they can take back into education and social settings while the nursery students can learn from their older counterparts.
As the weather improved towards the end of the month it was time for gardening! Norley has a brilliant garden with planters and outdoor seating. Utilised as a dementia garden thanks to the support of a local school it's brilliant seeing the residents making the most of it. There are even plans to start growing their produce which can be used at the home's kitchen!
Residents commemorated the start of the Paris Olympics and Wimbledon with a dedicated games day, celebrated birthdays and got in touch with their animal side... The home was visited by Pepper the Therapy Dog, therapy pets are brilliant for residents promoting movement, improving mental health and supporting reminiscence while there was a, slightly different set of visitors, Hill Vale Animals who helped the home celebrate World Snake Day with some friendly reptiles.
And, let's not forget, Norley's annual Summer Fair, this time with a fab 50s theme, family and friends joined in with the celebrations!
