Last year, a resident of Norley Hall, Anne, shared her grandson Max's inspiring story. Max wrote a book to raise awareness of neurodiversity after his sisters, Daisy and Jorgie-Rose, were diagnosed with autism. He found limited resources to help siblings understand the condition.
To provide more support, Max wrote a personal book sharing his feelings and concerns about his sisters' behaviour.
Since its release in December 2023, Max’s first book I’m an Autism Brother has sold over 200 copies and been distributed to 10 schools and 12 libraries in Wigan and beyond.
His new book ‘I’m a Big Autism Brother – What’s Your Superpower?’ focuses on his younger sister Jorgie, who is non-verbal autistic. Jorgie was diagnosed with Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, Sleep difficulties and Global Development Impairment. Alongside this, Jorgie is nonverbal and finds it difficult to communicate her needs.
Millennium Care have funded £1400 towards the new book. This week they have visited Max & Daisy’s schools to see first-hand the impact on the books there.
