Spring has well and truly arrived, with another glorious week behind us and more on the horizon.
Wander through the top floor of the upcoming Langtree Care Home and you’re instantly immersed in the natural beauty that surrounds both the home and the wider Standish Care Village.
The days are longer, warmer, and alive with the sound of birdsong, wind rustling through full trees, and the familiar buzz of strimmers as our teams work to keep the grounds pristine.
This time of year brings a natural shift in mood and well-being, and all Millennium homes embrace that energy. Langtree will be no different.
The link between nature and well-being is well-established. Access to green space, fresh air, and natural light improves mood, reduces anxiety, and supports recovery in care settings. For older people and those living with dementia, even small interactions with nature like tending to a garden, watching birds at a feeder, or simply feeling the sun on their face can evoke memories, provide sensory stimulation, and spark joy.
Across the UK, care homes are increasingly embracing biophilic design and outdoor-led activity. From sensory gardens and raised flowerbeds to open-air movement classes and nature-inspired art, we’re seeing a shift towards environments that mirror the natural world. The goal is simple; to create spaces that feel alive, comforting, and deeply human.
At Langtree, this philosophy comes to life. Surrounded by the beauty of more than 220 mature trees, a thriving bird population, and the calming presence of countryside all around, nature is quite literally on our doorstep.
As we near the completion of construction, and prepare to welcome 52 residents who will benefit from exceptional dementia support, spring will mark a new chapter as life begins to fill Langtree’s corridors.
Designed with nature at its heart, Langtree completes the Standish Care Village and sits on a 10-acre estate on the edge of a leafy residential area. All ground floor doors open into landscaped gardens. Village walkways connect to a private path leading to Worthington Lake, which residents can explore with the help of our off-road scooter.
From birdwatching huts to breathtaking views, even stargazing is on the agenda with plans to install a telescope.
Langtree’s location allows residents to stay in tune with the seasons to watch birds migrate, witness trees turn from green to gold, and enjoy sunsets over the open fields. Here, nature supports positive risk-taking, spontaneity, and deep connection, no matter the time of year.
So, bring your wellies, pack a rain jacket, umbrella, and sunhat — because at Langtree, every season brings something new to discover.
