Windsor House launches ‘Just Because’ campaign

3 minute read

The team at Windsor House held a resident meeting to establish some firm plans for activities and explore potential improvement within the home!

Resident Terri, the head speaker of the meeting, gave some great ideas and because of this, the team decided to launch their ‘Just Because’ campaign.

The campaign was created with a mind to boost well-being, encourage independence, provide a sense of inclusion, promote open lines of communication and best of all, inspire spontaneity and fun.

This week, resident Joan mentioned to the team that the weather was bleak; the type of weather you’d only leave the house for if you had something special to go to.

Staff promptly asked what that special something could be? Her response was simple, ‘the pub’.

The team swiftly acted, taking Joan and Pat to the Boars Head. The spontaneous activity broke up the normal routine at Windsor House and made Joan and Pat’s day.

“I think it’ll be great, to encourage that spontaneity and break away from the monotonous routine.

“It’s about spending time with the residents and listening out for those keywords and conversations and acting on them there and then. Whatever they want to do, we can enable it.”

Ffion Caunce, Home Manager at Windsor House

The team have since revised their activity plan to include plenty of ‘Just Because’ days, focussing on the one-to-one elements of engagement and prompting spontaneity.

“We may be in our elder years, but it’s not over yet. Let’s have some fun!”
